Great Movie, Awesome Song
Slumdog Millionaire considered by many to be the little movie that could, won every major award under the sun and potentially made stars out of Dev Patel and Freida Pinto. It had a really good script and the acting was great on all fronts. I was personally routing for it all way at the Oscars, and I’m glad it won. However, this post isn’t really about the movie, more so about “Jai Ho” the song at the end of the movie.
Obviously, I really enjoy this song otherwise I wouldn’t be blogging about it right now. It’s hard to say why I like it as much as I do, it seems like a typical Bollywood tune but it just emits such an undeniable joy that makes anyone want to get up and dance. And I don’t think I’m the only one..recently the dance featured at the end of the film has been emulated by a lot of people on youtube. The Pussycat Dolls semi covered it, releasing an english version of it. It obviously won the Oscar for best song.
A.R. Rahman crafted a gem of a song and I’m glad it’s catching on. Does he have the potential to be the next big IT producer? We’ll see I guess.
Here’s the original for those that haven’t heard it.
